Chipata Man Arrested for Bribing DEC Officer

The Anti-Corruption Commission in Chipata has arrested a 28-year-old man of Kalongwezi for bribing an Officer of the Drug Enforcement Commission.
Frank Chilufya, of Plot 3194, Kalongwezi in Chipata was arrested yesterday and has been charged with one count of corrupt practices with public officer contrary to section 19(2) as read with section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.

Details of the offence are that on dates unknown but between 1st October 2016 and 30th October in Chipata, Chilufya corruptly offered and actually gave K 3,000.00 to Mr. Charles Ndulumina, a Public Officer namely, Regional Commander for the Drug Enforcement Commission as an inducement or reward for Mr. Ndulumina to facilitate the release of a Toyota Allion Car which the Drug Enforcement Commission had impounded for its alleged involvement in the commission of a crime, a matter or transaction that concerns the Drug Enforcement Commission, a Public Body.

Chilufya has since been released on bond and will appear in Court soon.
