The Lusaka Magistrates court has convicted a former Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) Assistant Investigations Officer Daniel Mwamba for corrupt practices.
Honourable Mary Chibanga has since sentenced Mamba to three years imprisonment with hard labour.
The Anti-Corruption Commission in 2017 arrested Daniel Mwamba aged 45, of Kaunda Square, Lusaka and charged him with one (1) count of corrupt practices by public officer contrary to section 19(1) as read with section 41 of the Anti- Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.
Details are that on dates unknown but between 1st June 2016 and 3rd August 2016, Daniel Mwamba being a public officer did corruptly solicit K2, 500 cash gratification, as an inducement or reward for the release of two (2) suspects from remand prison, a matter that concerned the Drug Enforcement Commission, a public body.
