ACC Records 17, Convictions, 24 Arrests in 2009 
The Anti-Corruption Commission has received a total of 2,073 reports in 2009 while 17 convictions were secured and 24 arrests made for various offences of corruption.

Two Senior Solwezi Council Officials arrested for graft  
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in Solwezi has arrested two senior Solwezi Municipal Council employees namely, Geoffrey Malasha, the Director of Engineering, Nephan Kamwandi, Deputy Director of Housing and Social Services and Clive Kakoma, a former Accounts Clerk of the said Municipal Council for corrupt practices.

Former ZAF Colonel goes in for corruption 
Lusaka Magistrate Exonorbit Zulu has jailed former Zambia Air Force (zaf) Chief Paymaster Colonel Barb Kausu to three years with hard labour, suspended for four years after finding him guilty of six counts of corrupt practices by a public officer involving about K500 million.

Court grants Rathi K600 million bail  
Jailed Lusaka businesperson Anuj Kumar Rathi has been granted a K600 million bail pending his appeal hearing in the Lusaka High Court.

Lusaka Magistrate Jails ZRA Officer impersonator 
Lusaka Magistrate has today convicted a Lusaka resident for impersonating a Zambia Revenue Authority Officer and jailed him to 18 months imprisonment with hard labour.

The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested Managing Director for Top Motors for attempting to bribe an Anti-Corruption Commission officer with K50 million.

Magistrate finds Chitoba, Koyi with case to answer  
Lusaka Chief Resident Magistrate Charles Kafunda has found former Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) Commissioner Ryan Chitoba and deputy Commissioner for administration Jacob Koyi with a case to answer on charges of theft involving millions of kwacha from the DEC forfeiture account.

Lusaka Magistrate Hon. Jenipher Chilembo has convicted and jailed two public officers for 18 months in prisonment with hard labour for corrupt practices involving K2million.

Two employees of Radio Mano in Kasama have been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment with hard labour for forgery and uttering false documents by the Kasama magistrates court.

Zambia's Republican President, His Excellency Mr Rupiah Bwezani Banda on 27th August 2009 launch the National Anti Corruption Policy with a renewed vigor for fighting corruption.

Launch of NACP set for September 4th

Government has announced the new date for the launch of the National Anti Corruption Policy. The launch was earlier scheduled to take place in July but due to circumstances beyond control, this was postponed.

Kayukwa Sworn In as ACC Director General

Zambia’s President Rupiah Bwezani Banda has appointed Mr. Godfrey Robert Kayukwa as new Director-General for the Zambia Anti-Corruption Commission. He is a seasoned legal practitioner of 26 years standing at the Bar. He brings with him to the Anti-Corruption Commission vast experience and a wealth of knowledge.

Parliament Ratifies appointment of New ACC Director General

Parliament on 17th July 2009 ratified the appointment of Lt. Col. Geoffrey Kayukwa as the new Director General for the Anti Corruption Commission. Mr Kayukwa is expected to be sworn in soon by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zambia. Mr Kayukwa takes over from Mr Nixon Mabvuto Banda who retired in June 2008.

Launch of NACP set for June 2009

The National Anti Corruption Policy which was approved on 16th March 2009 by Government is scheduled to be launched this June. Preparations for the launch have since commenced.

The Anti Corruption Commission has made seven (7) arrests during the first quarter of 2009 for various offences of corruption while seven (7) convictions were also secured.

ACC Launches New Strategic Plan

The Anti Corruption Commission has today launched a new Strategic Plan for the period 2009 to 2013 with a new strategic vision and focus to propel the Commission in its execution of its mandate for the next five years. Permanent Secretary, Management Development Division Mr George Kawatu launched the document at Pamodzi Hotel.

Government to Launch Public Service Code of Ethics

The Government will on Friday 28th November 2008 launch a Public Service Code of Ethics at Mulungushi International Conference. The objective of the code is to inculcate core values, a pisitive work culture and culture of excellency in the public service.
