2007 End of year Press Briefing - January 10th 2008 "The fight against corruption in Zambia has once again begun to assume high levels of priority and effort. The year 2007 saw numerous challenges in tackling corruption but also several milestones were achieved and a number of success stories were registered."
2007 Third Quarter Press Briefing - "In referring to the levels of corruption in Zambia, let me remind you that Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) recently launched its 2007 Corruption Perception Index (CPI) in which Zambia alongside ten other countries, had a score of 2.6 and was ranked 13th most corrupt nation amongst 180 countries surveyed. Zambia has apparently maintained this score for a period of three (3) years since 2005, though the countries surveyed have ranged between 156 in 2005, 160 in 2006 and the present 180 countries."
2007 Second Quarter Press Briefing "Most Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the Pilot project have made headway in developing their Codes of Ethics. The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Integrity Committee (IC) launched its Code of Ethics on 7th May 2007 in Lusaka, followed by subsequent launches in their offices in Chirundu, Livingstone and the Copperbelt. The ACC IC started disseminating its Code of Ethics to its employees in the regions starting with Solwezi, Kitwe and Kabwe. The other five regions will have been covered by the end of third quarter."
2007 First Quarter Press Briefing - April 13th 2007 "The Anti Corruption Commission has realized the need to inform members of the public and all stakeholders on activities of the Commission during each quarter of the year. These briefings will include information on Corruption Prevention Programmes, Community Education Programmes, and information on Investigations and Prosecution cases. During the first quarter of 2007, the Commission received a total of 446 corruption and non corruption reports. As expected, Lusaka recorded the highest number of reports with 168, whilst Mongu recorded the lowest with 12 reports."
2006 End of year Press Briefing - January 18th 2007 "It is however gratifying to note that most programmes set for the year were achieved: Integrity Committees are now in place, Investigations and prosecutions manuals were launched together with the ACC Codes of Ethics, significant corruption prevention exercise and Community Education programmes were conducted, while a number of people including prominent Zambians and Senior Civil Servant are facing charges of corruption in the Courts of law. Above all major strides have been achieved towards developing a National Anti-corruption Policy."
Status On Elections Cases - October 20th 2006 "I wish to state that on 27th September 2006, I informed the media that the Commission had by then received a total of 39 cases on the tripartite elections which were held on 28th September 2006. . I further wish to acknowledge receipt of 30 other cases from Transparency International on suspected cases of corruption. The mandate for the ACC is as provided for in the Electoral Act No. 12 of 2006 Section 3 subsection 5 and as such the Commission restricted itself to this mandate i.e to investigate cases of corruption in line with the ACC Act No. 14 of 2006."
Operations of the ACC During the Electoral Process - September 27th 2006 "As you all may be aware, the new Electoral Act No. 12 of 2006 Section 3 subsection 5 has clearly mandated the Anti Corruption Commission to investigate and prosecute cases of corruption before, during and after elections in line with the Anti Corruption Commission Act No. 42 of 1996. As such, the Commission has this year repositioned and prepared itself to adequately take up this mammoth challenge in a bid to ensure that cases of corruption reported or otherwise are fully investigated and where evidence is available, submit to the Director of Public Prosecutions for consent to prosecute. In view of this years tripartite elections, the Commission designed two approaches in a bid to reach out to as many Zambians as possible on matters of corruption."
